Montblanc, the seller of luxurious pens, watches and accessories, has opened its first direct store in Prague's Pařížská street, number 17. Until now, the originally German company has only been represented indirectly in the Czech Republic. The premises of this exclusive retail brand were provided by Tomáš Soukup from JLL.
Montblanc, based in Hamburg, was founded in 1906 by engineer Auguste Eberstein, banker Alfred Nehemias and paper maker Claus-Johann Voss under the original name of Simplo Filler Pen. In 1909, the brand introduced its first model of writing pen, Rouge et Noir, a year later, it introduced the Mont Blanc type. The present name of the company is derived from the name of this model. It refers to the highest mountain of Europe and its symbol is reflected in the company logo - a white six-pointed star reminiscent of the snowy peak of mountain Mont Blanc. In 1925, the company introduced the iconic so-called "Meisterstück" pen, which made it famous throughout the world.
This store is the first direct representation of this brand in Prague. So far, we have been able to buy luxury pens only in stores that indirectly represented the brand.
„The Czech Republic and its capital are relatively small markets compared to other European countries and their metropolises but that does not change the fact that investors and brands are very interested in this market. As an example of their interest we can name several newly opened high street boutiques who have opted for their direct representation on Pařížská street and its surroundings, for example Christian Louboutin, Céline and many others. The number of shops with luxurious range of products is increasing in Prague and therefore the brands believe in the Prague market and its potential," said Tomáš Soukup, JLL Head of Retail.
